Ever wondered what your two favorite HC members listened to all summer? Well the wait is over, here are Annie O’Brien and Katie O’Donoghue to share their summer music recap.

KATIE’S ALBUMS OF THE SUMMER:

Acid Rap – Chance The Rapper

I first listened to Chance’s mixtape Acid Rap in the summertime, so I’ll always associate it with sunshine and good feelings. I think most people would agree that Chance is really great at tackling heavy topics in his music while keeping the sound lighthearted. For example, he raps about his struggles with drugs and the violence in Chicago, but he does it in such a way that makes you want to listen over and over again. Overall, Acid Rap is full of bops that would be a great addition to any beach day playlist. I’m pretty sure nobody could be in a bad mood after listening to Everything’s Good.

The Sun’s Tirade – Isaiah Rashad

(Isaiah Rashad and SZA) Isaiah Rashad is one of my favorite artists who I found out about through Spotify. His music is catchy and relaxing, so it’s easy to put on in the background when you’re feeling low-key. The Sun’s Tirade is the perfect album to listen to on a late night drive to get Wendy’s, or whatever your fast food of choice may be (big love to the homies in Reading).

Good For You – Aminé

Aside from being one of my favorite albums of the summer, Good For You is probably going to be one of my favorite albums of 2017. I think Aminé is so fun, and I think we can all agree that Caroline has become an instant classic for sweaty college parties. But, make sure to check out the rest of his debut album because homie DELIVERS. His beats and lyrics are very unique, but no so far out there that you can’t relate. I think a collab from him and Gambino would be fresh, but that’s just my opinion.

ANNIE’S ALBUMS OF THE SUMMER:

Battle Studies – John Mayer

I listened to this album and all of John Mayer’s other albums this summer. I also saw Dead & Co., this summer and it was amazing to even hear his voice, but I would die to see him in concert. There’s something about the pain in his voice that really gets me, such a softie. John Mayer is my dream boy, I know he’s probably a huge d-bag, but like, I think I could deal. Edge of Desire is my personal favorite on the album. Although Whiskey, Whiskey, Whiskey isn’t on this album it is another personal favorite song of mine.

Channel Orange – Frank Ocean

This album came out when I was a sophomore in high school and I listened to it non-stop. Then this summer I resurrected it and I am so happy I did. Jams include, but are not limited to Pilot Jones, Forrest Gump and Lost. Frank Ocean is the biggest soft boy ever, he makes music for people who love to feel feelings and you guessed it, that’s me. Ocean’s latest album Blonde has my favorite song of the summer on it, check it out below.

Ctrl – SZA

This album is a f-ing work of art and you should all give it a listen. SZA makes absolute jams, Love Galore is probably the most popular with a feature from Travis Scott. SZA is all about female empowerment and makes some of the most realistic music for girls now. I listened to Garden (Say It Like Dat) everyday this summer, reminds me of a certain someone every time I hear it. There is another song on the album called Doves In The Wind (feat. Kendrick Lamar) that says p**sy 28 times, truly amazing.

KATIE’S SONG OF THE SUMMER

Spice Girl – Aminé

I can’t think of any song that I love to bump more while I’m driving around on a sunny day. All I can say is that this song will make you feel real cute real fast.

ANNIE’S SONG OF THE SUMMER

Nights – Frank Ocean

This song is my ultimate jam; I will never hit skip when it comes on. The transition in this song is so smooth it murders me. “Can’t keep up a conversation, can’t nobody read you”
