Dealing with Long Distance During the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SJSU chapter.

The holidays are quickly approaching. It’s also the time many know as “cuffing season.” If you have a SO then no worries. Right?

People tell you not to worry because you already have someone, but what happens when bae lives miles away from you.

Those of us in long distance relationships know the holidays are sometimes just as hard as being single.

You have that person who you want to be with and they want to be with you, but for whatever reason you can’t be together.

It sucks.

So, what do you do when all you want to do is snuggle up?

Here are a few ideas of what you and bae can do to stay warm in these frosty seasons.

Plan time to communicate

There’s nothing worse than feeling left out of your SO’s life. Make sure you still continue with your life, but let them know how it’s going so that they don’t feel like you don’t need them.

Skype!

Thank God for Skype! You and your loved one can have a skype date. Another cute idea to go along with this one is to watch a cute Christmas movie together while on Skype. It might sound lame, but trust me you’ll have a lot of fun.

Here’s a list of just a few Christmas and holiday movies ABC family shows every year:

Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory

The Year Without a Santa Clause

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The Santa Clause

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas

Rudolph’s Shiny New Year

Have a Goal

Keep in mind that you two will see each other again. It’s easier when you have a date to look forward to. Plan out all the holiday activities you’ve missed and pick a date for the two of you to get together and make up for all the lost time.

Stay positive this is only temporary. You and bae will be cuddle’d up before you know it!

In the midst of all that homework dodging she's also casually planning her dream wedding.
