It seems to me that whenever I want to watch TV the most is when I have the least time to do it. As the school year has started up again, I am once again swamped with classes, work, and extracurricular activities, like so many of my peers. When I get this busy all I want to do is sit in my bed and watch Netflix until the end of time, but I unfortunately do not have that luxury. Instead, I find shows that are quick and entertaining, that I can fit in between my busy schedule. Here are some of my favorite shows to binge watch during the busy times:

1. Parks and Recreation

I’m guessing that many people out there have heard of this one, but I never think it’s talked about enough. In my opinion, it’s hard not to love a show with Amy Poehler as the lead, she’s just the best. In addition to that, you have other hysterical actors such as Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, and Chris Pratt. The show, as the title eludes to, is about the parks and recreation department of a small town in Indiana. While that might not sound thrilling at first, the characters are so unique that the plot doesn’t need to be more complex than that. This show is perfect for lightening up your stressful mood during the school year without taking up too much time.

2. Friends

I can’t say enough good things about this show. It takes place in the 90’s, is that not enough? Friends is one of my favorite shows of all time and is beloved by men and women, of all senses of humor. If you need a few laughs, or want to be transported back to the best decade of all time, I highly recommend adding this to your queue.

3. Younger

This series is one of my newest and most beloved TV shows. The main character Liza, is a recently divorced 40-year-old who is trying to find a job at a book publishing firm in New York City. After numerous attempts to get a job and being rejected due to her older age, she decides to lie and tell everyone she’s 26. While this show is 100 percent a romantic comedy type of show, it’s also suspenseful because of the lie that is just waiting to come out.

4. The Office

The Office has been out and finished for some time now, yet this summer was the first time I decided to give it a real try. I had seen a couple of episodes before but never felt like I clicked with the humor. This past June, I sat down, attempted again, and was not disappointed. I would now passionately argue that Steve Carell is one of the funniest people of all time.

5. How I Met Your Mother

Haaaave you met, Ted? You probably won’t understand that joke unless you watch the show, but maybe that has now enticed you to add it to your queue. How I Met Your Mother is one of the best shows I’ve found on Netflix; it’s funny, heartwarming, and gives you a look into a wonderful group of friends who probably go to the bar too often.

All of these shows have brought laughter and stress relief into my life, even when there seemed to be no time for TV. Even if you are the busiest of the busy, I highly recommend taking 30 minutes out of your life, and giving one of these shows a try.
