This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCU chapter.

Have you seen the tables outside of Benson giving away delicious Nutella and peanut butter treats? Well, then you’ve probably seen Spoon University! Meet one of SCU’s newest organizations along with the ladies that made this great new student organization possible.

How did you hear about Spoon?

I heard about Spoon through Kate [Ryan] actually! We both love to cook together and she kept finding super cool recipes and tricks from Spoon!

What made you want to found a chapter at SCU?

We wanted to found a chapter at SCU for many reasons; first and foremost, we love to eat and wanted to share this awesome resource! Also, we wanted to leave a lasting legacy on SCU that we could say we started and watched grow.

What do you hope to accomplish as a Spoon founder?

As Spoon founders we have pretty much accomplished all we wanted by founding the chapter, but we are really excited to see this chapter grow over time.

Do you plan to use your experience in future jobs/careers?

Well first and foremost, I need to figure out what I actually want to do with my life. But we have gained lots of experience in recruiting and leading a large group. I’m also hoping to get involved in healthcare and therefore learning about healthy nutrition will be beneficial.

Fun Fact: My favorite food is pesto anything!

How did you hear about Spoon?

I heard about Spoon from my sister who was on the marketing team at the University of Illinois.

What made you want to found a chapter at SCU?

I wanted to bring Spoon to SCU because it is such a great resource for college students.  It covers exciting stories ranging from super simple recipes to dining hall hacks. Spoon University is a strong network that allows for the team members to express interesting topics that are engaging to other students on campus.

What do you hope to accomplish as a Spoon founder?

Like Anna said: in addition to founding the chapter, we are excited to see the chapter grow.

Do you plan to use your experience in future jobs/careers?

Yes, I plan to use my marketing and communication skills for future job opportunities!

Fun Fact: I am currently a student ambassador for Flywheel Sports in Sunnyvale.

How did you hear about Spoon?

I heard about Spoon actually by seeing a flyer on campus. It said that Spoon University was hiring for a new chapter and I immediately went home, looked it up, and knew it was a perfect opportunity. Every single article was so interesting and relatable; I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

What made you want to found a chapter at SCU?

I wanted to be a part of getting Spoon off the ground here at Santa Clara because I love the concept of the site in general and really wanted to be a part of making it something that could really become an important part of SCU culture. I’ve had editing experience in the past and have really enjoyed it so I wanted to pursue the opportunity to have a leadership position doing similar stuff in a really cool organization.

What do you hope to accomplish as a Spoon founder?

As Editor-in-Chief I really want to integrate Spoon in SCU life and have our articles (and food in general) discussed in day-to-day life here, and get everyone excited about what we’ll be publishing next. On a personal level, I want to develop my leadership skills and gain experience in online media.

Do you plan to use your experience in future jobs/careers?

Yes, I’m interested in pursuing a career in journalism, so Spoon is the perfect combination of everything I love! Even though the content on the site is all pretty lighthearted, everyone (writers, photographers, editors, marketers) is getting really valuable experience in working on a publication that’s entirely student created and managed.

Fun Fact: My favorite type of food is any type of pastry! Croissants, danishes, alllllll of that.
