Garnier Fructis generously gave Her Campus 1000s (literally) of shampoo and conditioner samples. Then, Her Campus sent huge boxes of samples to their CCs around the world.
Garnier believes that everyone possesses her own natural beauty and everyone has the power to make that beauty shine through. For Garnier, the aim of beauty is happiness and feeling at ease with yourself and others. It’s about taking care.
Garnier prides themselves in taking care. Already knowing how great the Garnier product is, I decided to try taking care of others.
So, what’s a girl to do with 200 samples of shampoo and conditioner?
Pay it forward.
First, I stashed some in our bathroom cabinets for those, “Oh Shoot! I’m out of shampoo moments!”
…And the other 150 samples?
“Shampoo is like gold here,” said Lisa, from the Humanity of Mary Homeless Shelter in Davenport, Iowa. So I hopped in the car and headed down to the Humanity of Mary Shelter on Fifth and Vine.
That many people have never thanked me in my life. And I was literally in there for 2 minutes. It most definitely gave me happiness.
While we are sitting in our cozy rooms, complaining about bad water pressure in our showers, there are people, literally five blocks from campus, that don’t have a place to sleep. If you’re thinking, “big whoop you gave them shampoo.” You’re probably right, but if Her Campus SAU made one person’s day better with a hot shower and some awesome Garnier Fructis shampoo, I’m happy.
This holiday season make it your goal to do something good for one person. Hold a door, donate a bag of old clothes, volunteer at a homeless shelter in your city. Be grateful for all you have and always pay it forward!
