5 Ways to Stay Cheery during Hell Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

The semester is almost over, which means Hell Week is here, finals are near, and winter break is close by. With all the stress until our winter long hibernation, here are some ways to keep yourself cheery on these next dreary weeks.

1)    Create goals and reward yourself.

Goals are important for anyone, but especially for college students. Goals can create something to look for and something to feel good about. These goals can be to not watch Netflix for a whole day, I know scary, but then you reward yourself with a ton of Netflix the next day. Goals are good for this time of the year because they keep you going.

2)    Have Fun!

I know finals are coming, shut down all fun things because you have to study. You shouldn’t do that! Having fun relieves stress, so go to that party, get your nails down, go crazy! Include your friends and just relax and have fun.

3)    Decorate for the holidays.

What’s cheerier than Christmas decorations? Be creative, make a Christmas tree out of Christmas lights, cut out snowflakes, and much more! Decorating for any holiday will make you happier and it is a good reminder of what to look forward to.

4)    Exercise, exercise, exercise!

This is coming from a person who hates exercising. Exercising keeps the mind away from your true stress, yes, it is just for a moment but those moments are worth it! Have fun with your workout, go with friends to the gym, or try something completely new. What I like to do is hot yoga at Sol Yoga. Every Tuesday at Sol they have college night which is a hot yoga course for $2! This is a fun and unique way to destress yourself.

5)    S L E E P

It’s ok to take a nap, your body needs it. You have to allow yourself to sleep, or you’re going to be even more stressed and tired, not a good combination! So, sleep darling you deserve it!

Good luck with exams and keep it up! I hope these tips will help you stay strong and motivated on these next dreary weeks. If you plan on doing anything fun and festive, like these ideas, use the #HCXO and #HCSAU to let us know!
