Galentine’s Day only comes once a year so it’s important to celebrate it as hard as you can. So, what is Galentine’s Day? It can be celebrated the day before (Parks and Rec Style) or the day of Valentine’s Day and a lot of people celebrate it differently. To some it may be an homage to being single or it may be a day where you get all of your best gals together and watch cheesy romantic comedies over ice cream and to others it may be a way to get out on Valentine’s Day when they can’t be with their SO, the possibilities are endless! No matter how or why you celebrate Galentine’s Day, I think we can all agree with Leslie Knope in the fact that it’s one of the best days of the year.

So what are some essentials to Galentine’s Day? We’re here to help.

1. Ice Cream

No matter what reason you’re celebrating Galentine’s Day for, whether it be for crying with your girls at how single you are or if you’re having the best night of your life playing games and bonding, ice cream always has a place. Be sure to get everyone their own pint of Ben & Jerry’s in their favorite flavor or make a trip of it and go down to Haight Street or Union Square to Ben and Jerry’s to sight see!

2. Netflix

Netflix is an essential part of everyday life and even though it’s fun to watch your favorite shows alone, it’s even better watching it with your best gal pals! Curl up on the couch with some cozy blankets and put on all your faves like, “Stuck in Love” or “Friends” or even “Grey’s”!

3. Your Gals

Because it wouldn’t be Galentine’s Day without them.

Have a wonderful Galentine’s Day, ladies! Eat your fill of ice cream and forget about boys, or just remember your girlfriends.

Hey there!I'm Karleigh Shepard, an aspiring writer currently living in San Francisco and attending San Francisco State University as a freshman English major. I'm from SoCal, so NorCal has been quite a change for me but I love it! In high school I was a cheerleader, a Peer Leader, Vice President of my drama department, and an active participant in musicals and shows. Although I don't do all of that in college, those experiences really shaped me into who I am today and I'm so thankful that I did them. I also love music of all kinds; my favorites include Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Mac DeMarco, Best Coast, Foxygen, The Vaccines, and so much more.I hope you enjoy my articles!- Karleigh Shepard
