This Summer’s Best Beach Reads

Summer weather and beach days are around the corner; and if you ever decide to pack a book along for your long days in the sand, take these great reads into consideration! 

 

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins:

I know from experience that this book is one you will not be able to put down! The Girl on the Train is a thriller novel about a daily commuter, Rachel Watson, who is obsessed with the perfect couple that lives in a house she passes every day on her way into London for work. One day the wife of the perfect couple mysteriously goes missing, and Rachel tries to help by getting herself involved in the police investigation. However, she may have crossed a dangerous legal boundary and gotten herself into serious trouble. 

Not that kind of Girl by Lena Dunham:

This book is a combination of lists, emails and essays about what its like growing up as young women. This book is empowering, and a quick and easy read for any girl looking for a relatable laugh. This book easily makes you realize that it is more than okay to have some bad days. 

Me before You by Jojo Moyes:

This book is about a young and upbeat girl named Louisa who stumbles upon the job of care-taker to Will Traynor, a very successful and wealthy banker, who is paralyzed from a previous accident. After getting to spend an enormous amount of time with Louisa, Wills dark outlook on the world begins to change and the two develop new and curious feelings towards on another. 

Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld:

This story is a modern day take on the novel, Pride and Prejudice. The book is about two sisters that live in New York City who must return home to Cincinnati to their father who has been diagnosed with a recent illness. However, the girls come home to find out their home, family, and their old town is much different than they remember. Meanwhile, their mother has one thing on her mind, marrying off all of her daughters. 

 

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han:

This romance novel is all about Belly, a girl who bases her life and thoughts around summer. Belly believes that all the best things in her life happen during the summer and that the rest of the months of the year are just anticipation. Every summer she and her family go back to their beach house where Jeremiah and Conrad both live. These two boys have become role models, friends, and a crushes all in one for Belly. However one summer, which she describes as the best and the worst, will change everything for her forever.

 

So there you have it. When you’re soaking up some sun, give some of these books a try! You won’t be disappointed.
