Give your Legs a Little Loving Care

While there is still time (thank the heavens!) before bikini season, it is time to start bearing those lovely legs.

Except there is a little problem…

Your legs have not seen sun (or if you’re like me, a razor) for months and they are pale and you have those weird patches of dry, dead skin. Not to mention you can see all your veins and you are pretty sure your legs could be considered a new breed of cactus. Not fun.

Before you panic and swear to wear pants for the rest of your life, take a few minutes over the next few weeks to give your legs a little love.

1. I am almost sure I lost a whole layer of my skin off my legs due to dry skin this winter due to the menace that is known as the Rochester wind. Thankfully, every beauty company known to womankind has marketed some sort of lotion, which can be both a blessing and a huge problem. If you are like me, you have spent a whole afternoon in Target staring at a thousand different lotions, lost and confused. Let me make it easy for you.

For serious dry skin, go with Eucerin, which is made specifically for dry and sensitive skin and also has specific products for specific skin concerns, such as eczema.

However, for a more fruity and fun lotion with a nice scent, I like the brands Kiss My Face (yes, I know most grandmothers use this, sue me!) and Nieva, or Burt’s Bees.

2.Drink water! Drink water! Drink water! I cannot stress how much good drinking even a glass of water a day has done. More water help with all parts of my body, including my skin, but it helps keeps the body moisturized.

3.I know the college budget is limited, but I always get at least one pedicure as it starts to get longer. Maybe it is just me, but just having my toenails painted makes me want to flaunt my legs. In addition, you get the added benefit of the leg massage and the feeling of smooth, moisturized legs for a few days. Or, get your girlfriends together and plan a little girls night in. The benefit of this is you get some serious girl time, which is much needed in this stressful time of upcoming final (*shudder*).

4.While I am the last person you will ever find lifting at the gym, I will admit that exercising the legs is vital. Not only will your legs look better, but you will overall feel better. Go endorphins! To work the legs, a combination of cardio (I like the bikes and running outside when it is warm!) and squats, calf raises, and, walking lunges.
