The Best Food Thanksgiving Offers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

Eating a ton of food all day with your family today?  It doesn’t get much better than that!  Here are some of my favorite foods to indulge in on Thanksgiving:

Mashed potatoes

This classic Thanksgiving side dish can be made in a variety of ways.  You can make them with white or sweet potatoes (both are equally delicious) and top them with all the butter and salt and pepper you want.  I always have seconds—and thirds—of mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving dinner.

Cranberry sauce

This dish is either a love or hate for people.  For me, it’s definitely a love.  My mother, however, does not like it, and my grandfather always teases her every year by sarcastically asking if she wants some.  It’s kind of a tradition.  But, for me, I enjoy it and always make sure there’s room for it on my plate (and in my belly!)

Apple pie

It’s not Thanksgiving if you don’t stuff yourself with pie at the end of the meal. My mom’s apple pie is one of my favorites.  My mother is an excellent baker to begin with, but this dessert is something I truly enjoy.

Seven-layer dip appetizer

This dip is always present prior to the Thanksgiving feast with my family.  Layers of several veggies and sour cream and cheese make it so yummy.  Dipping in crunchy tortilla chips adds extra yumminess.  I make sure I don’t have too much so I can save room for dinner and dessert, but it’s a challenge!  This stuff is so good.

Pumpkin cheesecake

All right, I’m not a huge pumpkin fan, but my mother made this for Thanksgiving a few years ago, and I fell in love.  I love cheesecake, and there is just a touch of pumpkin puree in this.  So delicious.

Those are my favorite Thanksgiving dishes.  Tell us what incredible food you’re indulging in today @hercampusqu!
