All of the work we put into problem sets, papers, and the extracurriculars we love, keep us from appreciating the intelligence of the students around us. We were the top of our high school classes, the cream of the crop, and now we’re simply awesome. This week for our Campus Celebrity, we’re highlighting three famous female alums–let’s hope that we will eventually join these amazing women’s ranks.
The Comedian: A familiar face indeed? Elizabeth Claire Kemper was born in Kansas City, Missouri. A member of Princeton’s Class of 2002, Ellie Kemper was involved in field hockey, Quipfire!, and the Princeton Triangle Club. Ellie graduated from Princeton with a degree in English and then continued her studies for a year at the University of Oxford. Since her time at Princeton, she has appeared in Funny or Die skits, but her most famous role is of Erin on The Office.
Royalty from Princeton: The Queen Noor of Jordan otherwise known as Elizabeth (Lisa) Najeeb Halaby is the widow, of King Hussein of Jordan. At Princeton, Lisa received her BA degree in Architecture and Urban Planning as a member of the class of 1973. As of now, Lisa is the current president of UWC (United World Colleges) movement and greatly involved in community advancement. Way to represent!
Business Woman: A member of Princeton’s Class of 1977, Meg Whitman received her BA (with honors–yes, its possible) in Economics. Following her years at Princeton, Whitmen obtained her MBA from Harvard Business School (we can’t blame her for it). Whitman (not only the namesake of the residential college on campus) is responsible for the importation of the UK children’s show Teletubbies to the U.S. and was the CEO of of eBay for ten years!
