Staying Stylish in the Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Princeton chapter.

Calling all fashionistas!  Fall is here and some of us may miss the warm summer days that now linger behind us. But, there is certainly much to look forward to with the changing of any season. Fall allows for the emergence of new fashion trends! It is important to know how to keep your fall outfits stylish, but also warm enough for the new change in weather. Following are a few of my go-to trends:

1. Solid Colors: Wearing more solid colors, such as grey tones, is refreshing after most of us have become familiar with wearing brighter colors during the past few summer months.

2. Ripped Jeans & Sweater: Two clothing items that I personally love to combine are ripped jeans with a casual sweater. The ripped jeans can create an edgy flare to your outfit, while a subtle sweater can be practical and suitable for a slight post-summer breeze.

3. Scarves: Fall brings the wonderful ability to add a scarf to your outfit. Scarves are nice because they are lightweight and can add a warm accent to your outfit. If you’re scared of gravitating away from the lighter summer colors, a cream colored scarf is a great way to maintain a hint of brightness.

4. Top it Off: Most importantly, fall is also a great season for you to dig into that cute hat selection in your closet! Knitted beanies are a great fashion symbol; they can serve a great purpose too since they are thick enough to keep you warm and cozy. Beanies are also a great buy since they can be worn during the daytime or the nighttime. There is one last great item to complete a casual outfit that can be worn on days that you’re going to class and also on nights out at the Street. These are Converse sneakers, which make it easy to walk around comfortably while also allowing for one to maintain a trendy look. Converse sneakers come in many unique and funky colors.

5. Accessories: Lastly, don’t forget to accessorize. Be bold and spice up your outfits with earrings, bracelets, and a great pair of shades. Adding these few accessories to your outfits can change your look from being chill and relaxing to being sheek and fashionable.  All in all, it’s easy to throw together a few pieces from your closet to make a great fall outfit.
