Although Thursday night’s loss to the Miami Heat seemed like a pretty bad game, the take away was much more than seen on the surface.
With the final score as 93 – 107, Game 36 in the NBA season showcased talented players and committed, energetic teams. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade proved their skills as usual, with LBJ scoring 38 and Wade with 33. LaMarcus Aldridge kept the Blazers afloat but his 20 points and 6 rebounds failed to keep the score even.
The first quarter seemed fruitful when the Blazers came out with a bang against the Heat with an incredible energy that put them 10 points ahead at certain points. Not only Aldridge was on fire, but the rest of the team proved to rally with his energy and put them on the scoreboard. Yet, the energy slowed in the second quarter and Miami picked up where Portland left off. Wade and LBJ turned to be the unstoppable duo they typically are and blazed the court, with their team following suit and the Heat showing the Blazers how a committed team works together on the court.
But the night proved a success for Portland in the end – the Trailblazers welcomed back fan favorite Joel Przybilla from his stint with the Heat. The “Gorilla” spoke with an NBA rep, saying, “Sometimes you make decisions with your head and sometimes with your heart,” Przybilla said Monday. “And for me I looked at my heart and what was best for me and my family. I knew deep down they wanted to come back here.”
Welcome back, Joel! Even though the night ended in a Blazers loss, there’s nothing that can stunt Portlandia’s pride for their NBA team. Strong and committed until the end, the stadium at the Rose Garden continued to glow red, even after all of the bandwagon LeBron James fans left and the Heat couldn’t stand Portland’s winter anymore.
