How to Really Start Your New Year’s Resolutions

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Be honest: you set a new year’s resolution that you probably won’t keep. Hopefully this will be the push you need to get going!

1: Set attainable goals

If you the resolution that you chose is too out-of-this-world, you’ll never start it! Pick something that is actually applicable to your life at the moment.

2: Start small

If your goal is to finally take advantage of your college’s gym facilities, start by going once or twice a week. It might not seem like much, but once you start to find a routine it’ll be easier to go as often as you want.

3: Pick something you’ll enjoy

If you hate to run, don’t tell yourself that you’ll start jogging three miles a day; chances are it won’t happen. Instead pick something that you can picture yourself doing. If you like to bake but want to eat healthier, try experimenting with healthy versions of your favorite recipes. Make it yours!

4: Don’t get discouraged

If it gets to the end of January and you still haven’t started your new resolution, don’t let that deter you from ever starting! If your goal isn’t going as planned, don’t give up. Keep you chin up and keep going!

Make 2016 your best year yet, Collegiettes!
