PRSSA Club Vice President: Walker Webb

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at PS Berks chapter.

This is Walker Webb. He’s a sophomore professional writing major who comes from Bensalem, Pennsylvania. On campus, he participates in the Journalism and Media club (JAM) and is vice president of Berks’ Chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).

As vice president of the PRSSA, Walker manages the Chapter memberships and is head of the Planning Committee where he supervises event preperation and execution. Read on to find out more about this reserved, introspective and unorthodox campus celebrity.

Your club, PRSSA, just went to a conference. What can you tell us about that? What did you learn?

Yes, we attended the PRSSA National Conference that was just held in Washington D.C. I learned a lot from the presenters, got to network with other students from around the country, and had an overall great time.

Why did you choose Penn State Berks?

I chose Penn State Berks for three reasons: (1) it had a major similar to the one I was most interested in (Technical Writing), (2) it has the Penn State name while still being affordable, and (3) it is far enough away from home where I can experience a different community from where I grew up, but not too far away where I can only visit over break.

If you had one wish what would it be?

To travel the world. Not really specific, but I want to have a career that allows me the time to travel.

If you could have dinner with one person, who would it be?

MLK Jr., it would be fascinating to hear what he would have to say about modern politics and socioeconomics.

What’s your favorite quote?

“To go wrong in one’s own way is better than to go right in someone else’s.” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment

If you could do one thing without failing what would it be?

Become a novelist. I aim to either way, but it would be reassuring if I could not fail.

What would be your superpower of choice?

The ability to write more quickly as writing for me is often a glacial process. I guess that would be super speed then.

What do you think is the meaning of life?

As an existentialist I believe that life is, literally, what you make of it.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan on joining an NGO or an advocacy group if my career as a novelist does not take off.

What is your biggest personal accomplishment?

Writing the manuscript to my novel. It encompasses all of my experiences and beliefs in a form that I hope will be engaging to others.
