ALL ABOUT THE CLUB

What is Berks Care’s mission: Our mission is to impact individuals lives in positive ways to help them through a rough patch of their life and to know we care and we want to help make a difference.

If someone were to join Berks Cares, what should they expect/what will you be doing at meetings and during the year: At the meetings we go over our upcoming events and the details of the events. We plan and assign positions where help is needed per event. Some events we will have this year on top of the typical events include the following: Adopt A human day, water pong tournament, volunteering at John Paul ll, and a dunk tank.

In your opinion, how does your club impact and better Penn State Berks or Berks community : Berks Cares impacts the community and Penn State Berks because no matter how small or minor our events may seem we still make a huge impact on everybody we get the opportunity to help. Convince people to join – what are the top 3 benefits/reasons someone should join Berks Cares: Seeing how much they appreciate what we do is such an amazing feeling. Events are fun and rewarding but also looks good on a resume. The members in the club now are such a dedicated, amazing and friendly bunch they are great to hang out with and great people to spend time with.

List any upcoming events that Berks Cares will be hosting or attending: Animal rescue league November 3rd during common hour, Elmcroft senior living Home November 9th, clothing and food drive during the month of november and december.

How did you come to be a part of this club: I spoke with Brittney, who is the volunteer coordinator here on campus, about a club that did a lot of volunteer work. She said that all the volunteer opportunities were still available but that there was no official club because nobody wanted to run it. Hearing this I was disappointed so I thought about it and decided that I would start the club back up. Being a first year student it is very overwhelming running a club, however, knowing all of the benefits that comes out of the club makes it all worth it to me. It was totally by chance that I started this club but I could not be more passionate and more thrilled that I did restart this club.
