Spring Break Staycation

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

Spring Break is near! While you wish you did, you most likely don’t have plans to vacation on an exotic island with your best pals, nor do you have the money to do so. Check out some alternative getaways in the New York City area below!

  1. Rent an Airbnb with your pals!

Who said staying in New York City during spring break had to be boring? Try out a new neighborhood with Airbnb, maybe the glamorous Upper East Side or trendy Williamsburg. Better yet, the larger the party the cheaper it is on your part. How nice is that?

  1. Take a day trip to a nearby city!

One of the awesome things about New York is its proximity to other major cities in the United States. Philadelphia and Washington D.C. are only a few hours away via bus or train. Plan a day trip and explore some of these historic cities!

  1. Treat yourself at one of Manhattan’s spas!

Girl’s day? I think…YES! Use the money you’d be spending on a plane ticket and put it toward yourself! Get a mani/pedi or a facial, your skin will be glowing once classes start up again.

  1. Check out the Cloisters!

Head to Washington Heights (uptown), for a glimpse into medieval times at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “the Cloisters”. With scenic views, this place is the perfect chance for an instagram-able photo-op.

  1. Do something touristy!

Have you ever wanted to go to the top of the Empire State Building or take the ferry to Ellis Island, but you thought it was too touristy? Why not go for it over break? Head to one of New York’s most notable locations and be a tourist for the day!

Hi! I'm Kate, and I'm a junior at New York University majoring in English.
Hey guys, my name is Cas. I am a Senior at Pace Univeristy on the NYC campus. I am currently working on a dual degree in Communications and Fine Arts. I've been working with some friends of mine to start up our own creative platform called FUNKNVIBE. It's basically a way for artists, musicians, film makers and any creative minds to collaborate and create. When I'm not volunteering or with my FNV family I'm reading, dancing or working on my latest art piece. I hope to own and design my own publication showcasing the culture around me. I have a personal blog as well as my Her Campus page. I recently started up a blog with FunknVibe so definitely check it out!  I started out as the secretary at for HCPace but moved my way to VP and CC to now President. I love being able to give students on my campus a voice and connect new students to some type of a community. Her Campus has allowed me to organize myself better and find out what goes into running an organization. It's been an absolute joy and I hope for my last year we have one of the best!
