Most everyone is taught from a young age that they should get a job that makes them a lot of money. It’s rare to have an adult tell you to do what you like when you’re young, not necessarily out of malice, just because there is some much in the world you have yet to experience. And a lot of it comes down to success.
As you get older, adults start telling you to find something you love, that will make you a decent living.
But what is success, really?
It’s instilled in most everyone that they need to make money to be accomplished in life. In some, it creates a warped vision of reality: one where the only way to measure their success is with their bank account.
Most people don’t need to be millionaires to be happy, otherwise most of the world would be depressed. The world is a strange and exciting place with thrilling adventures to be had.
If you focus your entire life on making money, will you truly experience the world?
Society has taken a tool, something meant to make trade easier, into a goal. Now we strive to have the most money, compare ourselves to those with money, base our worth on money. Everything seems to have a price tag, status 60k, love and adoration 40k, people who care about you 100k. In a world where everything can be bought and sold, why not buy yourself a new version of yourself.
Reinventing yourself isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as long as it is for your betterment.
If buying a new dress helps you fit into a club you want to go to, then by all means get the dress. But if you didn’t want to go to the club in the first place, then why buy the dress? Don’t give into the idea that there is only one way to live, and that way is constantly partying and having a good time.
Do things because you enjoy them, not to fit into the fast life style you see on television. Money isn’t supposed to eat up your entire existence, it’s supposed to make it easier. Our relationship with money needs to change if we are going to move forward, as a society. Money should never be your goal for your life, just a means to get where you want to go.
