Spring break. A time to let off steam and relax after those cold winter days of walking to and from class. It’s been colder than the North Pole here at Ohio State and I personally cannot wait to be on the beaches. While we still have a little under a month until this break, it’s never to early to start thinking about your wardrobe for the week. Whether you are getting down to Florida, south of the border to Mexico, hitting the big cities, or just staying home for the week, I’ve come up with all essentials.

Aside from the basics, like a bathing suit, for the beach there are a few other things that I find essential. A cute cover-up is a must for walking from the room to the beach as is a hat for those overcast days or when you want a break from your sunnies. I love having a large bag to keep all my sun screen, magazines, shorts for impromtu volleyball games and bike rides, and towel in. Make sure the bag is one that can be washed off easily! Slides are the new flip flop for the summer and they come in so many different styles you really can’t go wrong and they are super versatile so you can wear them out to dinner or around the town after the beach day is over. And if you haven’t heard of them, I would consider looking up Flash Tattoos. They are temporary tats that look like you’re wearing jewelry and they come in a variety of styles to match your spring break personality.

One of my favorite things about any beach vacation is the variety of activities at night. If you are going to play some mini golf or wandering the town, something more casual like overalls with sandals is the perfect fix. Dinner with more upscale vibes? A maxi skirt and crop with your favorite heels are the perfect compromise for an evening out on the town. Having a night in with your friends? I go for casual with a light sweatshirt dress, tennies, and a snap back thrown over my beachy waves.

If you are taking your break to a city enviornment, then take a more luxe wardrobe with you. Lighter jackets (weather permitting) and jeans are a perfect uniform for a day of going in and out of stores and trying clothes on. Depending on your evening plans, a shift dress or dress pants and a basic top can make a statement in the big city.

For those who are heading home for the week, embrace the lazy, comfy life. Pull out your leggings and joggers and curl up on the couch with Netflix on hand becasue hey, you don’t have any homework to do. Go treat your self to a mani pedi, take a breather, and relax in the comfiest clothing your closet can offer.
