Setting the stage: Earth has become uninhabitable for human life and now a colony has been established on Mars. Sounds like the setting of every science fiction novel, right? Well, Earth may not be uninhabitable now, but Barack Obama wants mankind to take its next step into space. Obama hopes to bring people to Mars by the 2030’s and then return them to Earth. He plans to meet up with next generation minds in Pittsburgh including students, scientists, and engineers to hopefully make this otherwordly task seem possible by discussing new innovations.
Obama has put much interest in space exploration and even urged NASA to send astronauts to Mars in a 2010 speech. One day he hopes we will all be living on Mars for extended time periods, but hopefully we won’t have as much trouble as Matt Damon did in The Martian.
