Stylish for Spring: Makeup Trends to Try!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

It’s that time of the year! The flowers are blooming, the sun is starting to shine and we can slowly start shedding our winter layers of sweaters. Not only is the weather brighter but the make-up trends this year are following. Here are some fun looks to keep up the lively season!

1) Lavender Hues: This light shade of purple is really in this season. It’s popping up everywhere from shoes to jeans and now your cosmetics. Lavender can compliment virtually every eye color and can be paired with almost any colored outfit!
Quick Tip: Apply light hues around the inner eye and fade to darker hues around the lash line and edges. Putting too much on and around your eye can make you look like you have a black eye and that’s not a good look for any girl.

2) Neon Pink: This electric shade can liven up even the dullest of days. When applied to your lips it has the magical power of making teeth appear brighter, making skin look darker, and helping your smile shine for everyone to notice! Neon colors are very hot right now so don’t be afraid to mix and match with neon accessories, jeans, or vibrant tops.
Quick Tip: Make sure to apply a nude shade of lip liner around your lips to prevent lipstick from traveling away from your natural lip lines. Neon pink is sexy on your lips, not your chin.

3) Pastel Pink: This make-up trend comes and goes but this season it came and conquered! With the sun shining, you don’t need a lot of make up and blush to make your face glow. Let nature do that and your make-up be a garnish. Not all pastel pink blushes are created equally. Find the one that compliments your skin tone and lightly apply to the apple of your cheek. Pair with a nude lip and lightly colored eye shadow and you have a natural, sun-kissed, pretty in pink look.
Quick Tip: When finding your shade, you want the color to make you look “rosy,” like when your cheeks get cold in the winter or how you blush when you’re embarrassed. Anything darker can look unnatural and anything lighter won’t be visible to the naked eye.
