If SUNY Schools Were The Office Characters

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

Which character would your school be?

1) SUNY Albany: Andy Bernard

Andy is super competitive, as shown through his relationship with Dwight. Since Albany has D1 sports and is bordered by many other colleges in the capitol region, it’s hard not to be competitive. There’s always something going on with Andy, just like there’s always something going on in Albany.

2) SUNY Binghamton: Ryan Howard

Many consider Binghamton as the Ivy league SUNY. Keeping this in mind, it’s only fair to pair Binghamton with Ryan. Ryan is intellectual and loves to stay on track with the latest trends while carrying the “work hard, play hard(er)” attitude, just like this SUNY.

3) SUNY Plattsburgh: Michael Scott

Michael Scott was hard to place in the SUNY chain. It’s been said there’s not much to do in Plattsburgh, similar to how Michael never does any of his work. Some might not understand how this SUNY, or Michael, manage to find their fun, but if you pay them a visit, I’m sure they’d be willing to show you.

4) University at Buffalo: Kelly Kapoor

Buffalo takes pride in their fun social life. Kelly’s bubbly, talkative, and the first to know about new gossip or news, just like most of the students at Buffalo.

5) SUNY Cortland: Dwight Schrute

Everyone knows Cortland’s love for sports, whether it’s the long-standing battle with SUNY Oneonta on who the true Red Dragons are, or with Ithaca at their annual Cortaca game. Dwight is competitive, and comes off strong, just like these students who always want their school to come out on top. But then again, who can blame them?

6) SUNY Oswego: Phyllis Lapin

The students at this SUNY are fun, outgoing, and truly love their school. Phyllis always stays upbeat and happy no matter the situation. You can count on the students of Oswego to always make the most of their time, even in the cold weather.

7) SUNY Geneseo: Darryl Philbin

Many students at Geneseo, like Darryl, are known to be ambitious and always working incredibly hard. At the same time, both tend to gravitate towards a playful nature and you can always count on this SUNY to show you a good time.

8) SUNY Potsdam: Kevin Malone

Kevin is the lead singer and drummer in his band Scrantonicity. Along with his great sense of humor, he never fails to show us that it’s okay to never quite grow up. Potsdam is well known for their Crane School of Music, and love to have fun.

9) SUNY New Paltz: Creed Bratton

Some say New Paltz is in a world of it’s own, kind of like Creed. He’s a free spirit; can be mysterious and people have a hard time figuring him out. Once you take time to visit New Paltz, you’ll adapt rather quickly, and see that they only want to have a good time.

10) SUNY Oneonta: Meredith Palmer

Oneonta is the wild card among the SUNYs, just like Meredith. If you’re looking to have a good time, this is the place for you. It’s always a party in Meredith’s eyes, and you can be sure the same goes for Oneonta.

11) SUNY Brockport: Toby Flenderson

Toby has weighty ambitions and passions, but is often underestimated, sort of like Brockport. It’s common to do so since people sometimes forget about this distant SUNY. Due to Toby’s reserved nature, it’s sometimes hard for him to connect with others. I do advise you to pay this place a visit – they’ll certainly leave you with some good times you’ll always remember.

12) SUNY Purchase: Pam Beesly

Pam is known for her wit, talents, and love for art, just like the students of SUNY Purchase. Both are creative and carry much potential.

P.S. I’m sorry Jim, you didn’t quite fit.
