Summer Plans to Keep You Busy!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

School’s out for the summer! Well, almost! And for me, it can’t get here soon enough. If you’re looking for inspiration as to what to do with your freedom from classes, check out some of the suggestions below:

Hit up a music festival!

Even though Coachella is over, check out some of the other awesome music festivals you can attend over the summer at Music Festival Wizard! Go to one or go to a few! There’s nothing like getting to hear your favorite artists at an outdoor festival!

Plan a lake/float trip!

Find a friend with a boat and go have fun on the lake to forget the stress of this past semester! Remember, the lakes get really busy in the summer though, so be careful!

Float trips with friends are fun, too, but you can also rent a kayak if you wanted to paddle ahead and relax on the water on your own for a while.

Do a study abroad trip! Or just travel internationally!

Some of the best memories I’ve ever made were from study abroad or international trips! If you can, it’s great to try to do study abroad for course credit, but sometimes you just have to do your own thing! Plan to go for a whole summer, a whole month or even just a whole week. It can be life changing!

Or just travel to a city you’ve never been to before in the U.S.!

Go visit a place like the city that never sleeps (NYC) or Los Angeles if you haven’t been! Again, it can be a life changing experiencing to go somewhere new and with so much to offer, even inside the U.S. Check out AirBnB for a (usually) cheaper and more authentic living experience. Get a two-for-one experience if you can land an internship in one of these cities. Then you’ll have some work experience to put on your résumé!

Or check out some of the quirkier sides of America with a road trip!

Places like Roswell offer tons of quirky fun and a little bit of mystery! You can use a site like RoadTrippers.com and check the “weird stuff” box to make sure you hit up all the world’s largest balls of twine and abandoned ghost towns between your starting point and your destination :)

So basically, my advice for summer is to get away from Stillwater for a while! For your sanity and mine! We can’t afford to be here all summer. My trip this summer??? I am spending a week in Seattle and Vancouver, Canada right after classes end. Can’t wait!
