Campus Celebrity: Taylor Dennis

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

You may recognize this picture. Last week, our Campus Celebrity was the Student Government Association President, shown on the right in this campaign photo. This week, our Celebrity is the current SGA Vice President, Taylor Dennis (the lovely lady on the left)!

Last week, the O’Colly published a wonderful article about the VP and the huge success she had with Lights On Stillwater and her sorority’s philanthropy.

I was thorougly impressed and wanted to know more about this successful student. Read on for our interview!

Her Campus OK State: I was so impressed by all of the things you are involved in on campus as highlighted in the O’Colly article! How do you stay organized with all of your extra curriculars?

Taylor Dennis: “I believe there are two main aspects that contribute to successful organization: prioritization and time management. Every extracurricular I’m involved in, I see the value in what I’m doing and that motivates me to prioritize achieving the goals I set within them. Once my priorities are set, I gain insight on what needs to be done and in what order. When you fill your time with things you care about, they become easy to prioritize.”

HCOS: After putting so much work into everything you do, what’s it like to see the culmination of all that work turn into a success?

TD: “It’s a beautiful and nearly indescribable experience to invest time and heart into something that turns into a success. Typically, my proudest moments follw my most stressful and sleep deprived times. However, there have been times of initial disappointment when I’ve poured a lot of work into something that did not go as smoothly as anticipated. In times like those, it helps to remind myself that any “failure” can be turned to a “success” by learning, adapting, and sharing new knowledge and ideas for the future.”

HCOS: What’s something you’ve learned from your time here at OSU and in your different organizations?

TD: “Cherish and take advantage of being around so many people who are willing to work towards the same goals you are. OSU gives students so many opportuites to find community, support and passions. Make the most of your time here and get plugged in with likeminded people. Margret Mead’s quote has always stuck with me, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Although we may feel young and inexperienced at times, there are nearly endless opportunities for student to connect and work together to make a difference.”

It’s clear that Taylor Dennis is going to go on and do great things! We can’t wait to watch this Campus Celebrity as she reaches her goals in the future.

Hannah Littlefield was Campus Correspondent for Her Campus at Oklahoma State University for 2 semesters, and she had an amazing team backing her up. During her time as CC, she also wrote for CollegeFashionista and her personal style blog, fefifofhannah.com. She will always remember the wonderful and unique team members she had at HCOS, and will cherish every memory.
