t’s getting to that time of year where you need to start thinking about what to get your significant other for Christmas. Whether you’ve been together one month, a year, or since you were children, this can be difficult. This creative gift guide should be able to give you a few novel ideas of what to buy him without breaking the bank or relying on the trusty boxers or sock sets.

Cologne (no not just lynx)

A gift for him, and you. We’ve all had that dizzying moment where we walk past or stand next to a guy who smells amazing, and it’s incredible. You can spend as much or as little as you like, and he probably won’t have thought to buy himself a great one, so you get free reign over choice.

Personalised t-shirt

Amazing for both best friends and boyfriends, personalised t-shirts are really thoughtful presents that are completely specific to your man without having to spend a fortune. With so many online personalisation sites it’s easier than ever to get a budget or higher-end personalised gift with maximum thought and minimum effort.

Tickets (gig, show, activity)

Another thoughtful one for the guy in your life is tickets (one for him and one for a mate, or one for him and you – depends on what you want to do). Whether it’s for his favourite band, comedian, show, film or something fun like go-karting or GoApe, it’s guaranteed to be appreciated, just make sure he keeps the date free for your present!

Alcohol

Whether he is a whisky, wine, or beer man, this is a great go-to-gift for your significant other and can appear like you’ve put lots of thought in if you buy his favourite beverage, but won’t break the bank.

Cocktail making set

Classy, fun and easy to find, this is a brilliant gift. It also leads to a lot of fun date nights afterwards attempting to make martinis (shaken not stirred, of course) and pitchers for all your friends and family.

CD // DVD

Classic but cute, this is one that needs to be thought out so it doesn’t come across as a last minute rushed gift. When thought through it can be a real winner. Key example, a guy I liked bought me ‘Not going out’ in a box set and asked me out when I opened it – hilarious and adorable, that’s what you should aim for here.

Now for giving the present. If you haven’t been dating that long then you probably don’t need to even consider this, but if you’ve been together for a few years and want to surprise your man this Christmas then a really smart and romantic idea is to create a treasure hunt for his present. You can do this through a series of clues leading to places that are important to you both, or through riddles!
