The Best Dressed at the Oscars 2015

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Sunday February 22nd marked the 87th Oscars award ceremony and sadly the end of awards season. The Oscars, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, is one of the most fashionable nights of the year with star studded celebrities arriving in beautiful dresses and tuxedoes, ready to celebrate achievements in film. Guests included Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong’o and Eddie Redmayne. This year’s Oscars had some amazing style on the red carpet. The main trends from the night were reds, nudes, whites and lots of embellishments. Here is our best dressed list from the Oscars 2015.

Dakota Johnson and Melanie Griffith

This mother and daughter duo were one of the best dressed couples on the red carpet, despite their awkward interview surrounding Dakota’s recent film. The Fifty Shades of Grey star, Dakota Johnson, wore an elegant red Saint Laurent dress with a silver embellishment on one shoulder. Her mother Melanie looked equally glamorous in a beautiful long sleeved black gown with a gorgeous embellished black clutch.

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller stunned in this navy and black Oscar de la Renta gown. We loved the black bows and black floral macramé detailing at the bottom of the dress. Her make-up by Charlotte Tilbury was equally stunning.

Lupita Nyong’o

Once again Lupita Nyong’o impressed everyone with this white pearl Calvin Klein Collection gown. The colour suited her beautifully and the tasteful cut-outs completed her look.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett made it onto the best dressed list with this bespoke black, velvet, John Galliano for Maison Margiela gown. The dress was simple and elegant and was enhanced by the gorgeous hand-set blue Tiffany & Co necklace.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone channelled old Hollywood glamour with this beautiful Elie Saab intricately beaded gown with an open back. In true Emma Stone fashion, she took a risk with the unique colour and she pulled it off tremendously. Her loosely waved hair and makeup matched her glamorous look perfectly too.

Jennifer Aniston

You can always count on Jennifer Aniston to look good on the red carpet. She made it onto the best dressed list in this beautiful glittery nude beaded Versace gown. Nude shades were very on trend throughout the night but we think Jen pulled the look off the best.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain looked incredible in this beautiful blue Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci gown. The figure hugging dress looked amazing on her and the slight split, sequins and draping really made her stand out from the crowd.

Anna Faris

Anna Faris looked amazing on the red carpet, alongside her husband Chris Pratt, in this champagne coloured Zuhair Murad dress. The embellishment was perfect for the Oscars and the full skirt and sparkly belt completed her charming look for the night.
