As Northwestern’s campus empties for summer vacation, the NU Her Campus staff is preparing for the busy summer ahead of them, filled with awesome internships, exotic vacays, and tons of time for fun in the sun. Here’s what we have planned!
Maya Voelk, Campus Correspondent: What better way to fuel a coffee addiction than with an internship at Starbucks? Maya heads to her native rainy city where she’ll work with the global digital marketing department. She may also want to brush up on (read: LEARN) French before studying abroad in the City of Lights this fall.
Liv Bahou, Campus Correspondent: Liv is heading home to New York to work as an editorial intern at People StyleWatch. She also plans on studying her Italian before her semester abroad in Florence. Is it bad that when we hear Italy, we think pasta?
Alyssa Raiola, social media director: Alyssa is flying back to New Jersey this summer to spend time with family and friends before heading to Spain in the fall.
Alice Zhang: Alice will be heading home to sunny California, spending the warm weather months interning for a San Francisco lifestyle magazine and a wedding planner! She also plans to allot time for hanging out with friends, camping, and the usual summer festivities.
Ava Steir: Ava will return to Connecticut, where she’s interning at a PR firm and staying close to friends and family. Her family trip to the Hamptons doesn’t sound too bad either!
Erin Cizek: Erin is interning with a social media marketing company while living in St. Louis. And here’s some motivation to keep you in shape this summer: Erin’s also running two half marathons before returning to school.
Haley Smith: Haley is heading home to Atlanta to enjoy the nonstop sunshine, friends and family. A definite highlight: she’s traveling to Nashville to see One Direction live. Say hi to Harry for us!
Jackie Montalvo: Jackie is relocating to YMCA’s Camp Duncan, which works with children who have Tourette’s, diabetes, severe burns or kidney transplant needs. After that, it’s off to Canada! An avid blogger, Jackie will of course be writing about the different towns she passes along the way.
Kristin Mathuny: Always an adventurous one, Kristin will be studying abroad in Prague for six weeks during the summer. Try not to be too jealous while you’re stuck at your desk and she’s gallivanting around Europe.
Lauren Myers: Lauren will head home to New York, where she’s interning with Bollare, a fashion PR firm. Then she’ll head to Paris with her best friend. Bring us back croissants?
Lina Hebert: Lina’s first stop is LA, where she’ll relax and visit with family and friends. Then she plans to travel in Ireland before taking her musical talents to a festival in Luxembourg.
Nancy Wang: Nancy will be spending the summer months in Beijing, China, where she will be interning for an informational technology company as a marketing intern. She will also teach children English as a part-time job.
Sarah Munger: Sarah is staying in Chitown, working at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at Lurie Children’s Hospital. She’s also preparing to study abroad in Copenhagen this fall.
Julia Cohen: Julia is heading home to New York to be a PR intern for the Crohns and Colitis Foundation. In her free time she’ll be perfecting her healthy pop tart recipe and getting back in shape after her first year at college.
