A Guide to Finals As Told By Puppies

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

It’s not even Thanksgiving, yet we are talking about finals? That’s right, folks. Finals begin very soon after the break and they will be here before you know it. Here are some tips according to the wise puppies of the Internet to get you through his final stretch:

Start early

This puppy knows that cramming last minute is not the answer to success.

Get some exercise

I will be the first one to tell you that physical activity is not my favorite, but in terms of clearing your mind it really does work. If you’re stuck in a studying rut, sweating away the stress can help make your next studying session more productive.

Sleep

This one should be easy, because it’s one of our favorite activities as college students. Sometimes it seems like you are wasting valuable time by sleeping it away, but you’re really doing yourself a favor. Sleep helps with memory retention and if there’s one time you need maximum memory retention, it’s Finals Week.

Eat Healthy

With the time constraints that finals bring, it’s so easy to just order takeout and essentially eat junk food for a week. Next time you’re at the dining hall grab an apple to go, or put a few extra veggies on your plate. By putting healthy food into your body, your energy will last longer, which will give you more studying power.

Hydrate

There’s nothing worse than a dehydration headache. Don’t let this happen to you! Take advantage of all the water bottle refill stations Northeastern has and drink water throughout the day to keep your energy levels up and your mind clear.

Take breaks

Ever have those moments when you study for hours, yet you feel like you’ve accomplished nothing? Keep your study sessions relatively short (you’re really the best judge of what time is best for you) and take breaks in between to prevent burnout. Do something completely unrelated to studying. If watching a 20-minute episode on Netflix is what clears your mind, go ahead and do it.

Remember, you can’t learn an entire semester of material for 4+ classes in one week.

Finals Week will eventually end, and when it does, you will be as happy as this husky:
