Campus Celebrities: Girl Code’s Jamie Lee and Guy Code’s Matthew Broussard

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

This Wednesday, MTV’s Girl and Guy Code sent two of their funniest stars to make students laugh and forget about finals for an hour or two! The night started off with Matthew Broussard from Guy Code, a former mathematics major and financial analyst before he brought his talents to L.A. Matt was quick to joke about his “douchebag jock appearance”, but gave us a glimpse at his nerdy side during a story about his clay Pokemon figures. He talked about relationships, the female anatomy, and weird habits people pick up when they’re single. One of his most spot-on bits was when he poked fun at Boston college students, from calling us out on our obsession with crossfit to pointing out how we j-walk like it’s nobody’s business. Not to mention he had no problem joking around with the frat boys present and getting the audience to participate.

Jamie Lee from Girl Code was up next and kept the laughs coming. She has had plenty of experience with stand up comedy and performing for the 20-something crowd. Like Matt she wasn’t afraid to poke fun at her religion, calling Costco her favorite “Jewish tapas restaurant.” Jamie Lee quickly got the audience cracking up when she poked fun at Harvard and asked why Northeastern doesn’t have t-shirts all over the airport. A lot of her jokes about being engaged, party girls, and bachelorette parties had the lewd and crude humor found in many of Amy Schumer’s sets, and the crowd loved it. She had no trouble bringing her wit and sass from Girl Code to the students in Blackman Auditorium.

The night closed off with a pun competition led by Matt, where students tried to figure out the picture puns on his Monday punday site. Everyone in the audience was fully invested in being the first to figure out Matt’s surprisingly tricky pictures. Three lucky students even got to go up front and compete with Jamie Lee! All in all it was a night full of laughs that fans of the MTV hit series would love, and a perfect way to destress before finals week.
