It’s not like we don’t want to enjoy brunch year-round, but in the cold dead of winter, eating just-add-water pancakes from your bed seems better than going outside on a lazy Sunday morning. However, once the sun starts to come out and it finally feels like spring, everyone gets a little more adventurous. Brunch in Boston can be overwhelming because there are so many places and it’s hard to figure out which are overpriced (Stephi’s) and not worth the wait (sorry, Friendly Toast is amazing but nothing is worth a 3-hour wait with no option to make a reservation). Here are our top picks:
Masa
Masa is located on Tremont Street in the South End. It has Mexican style brunch with items like plantain empanadas, huevos rancheros, and breakfast tacos. The best thing about it is the $9.95 brunch fiesta that comes with two courses and coffee/tea!
Mike’s City Diner
As a New Jersey native, diners hold a special place in my heart. Finding Mike’s City Diner where you can get homestyle massive amount of breakfast food for $12 or less was akin to Christmas morning for me. Plus, the leftovers are perfect after a night out. The diner is small, so only go with 2-4 people to avoid a long wait.
The Beehive
The Beehive’s jazz brunch has been on my bucket list for a while. It’s recommended to make a reservation since the restaurant is so popular. It’s a bit pricey but the ambiance, live music, and different dishes (poutine!!) make it worth it, especially for a birthday!
Thornton’s
Thornton’s is down Huntington near the Pru, so it’s super close to campus and perfect for when you are over the dining hall. There’s a ton of breakfast options for everyone but the Amaretto French Toast is my favorite.
Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen
Located on Columbus Ave near the Davenports, Darryl’s has a $19.99 all you can eat brunch buffet if you come before 10:30 AM.
Tremont 647
This restaurant is super cozy, the waiters are really nice, and the food is amazing for reasonable prices.
