Conquer then Pamper

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NMSU chapter.

College life is great, composed of friends, laughs, and plenty of memories, but then the most dreaded time of any college student, suddenly hits. Finals week, It’s the most stressful time of the year. Screaming, crying, and stu-dying  can be very draining, but once it’s all over it’s impossible to not feel relieved and like a heavy weight has been lifted off your shoulder. Now there’s not much I can say to save you during finals week, but if you are looking for ways to finally relax after your victory against that dreadful exam, then this one is for you.

1. Take a nap

Let’s face it, you did not get enough sleep, trying to cram all the things you learned three month ago, in one day. Sleep is vital, to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but it is well known that students don’t sleep, and finals week is notorious for depriving students of their nice warm bed. Therefore, I suggest taking a long nice nap, in order to rejuvenate after a long and stressful week. And if napping is not really  your thing, then try and go to sleep early and get at least eight hours of sleep, so you can be ready to conquer with more energy and no dark circles.

2. Face masks/ Skin care

Speaking of  of dark circles, why not fix them with some handy dandy eye masks. Stress can cause major changes to not only our health but also our skin, thus, a nice way to de-stress is to treat your skin to some well deserved pampering. Fortunately, all kinds of masks exist to treat all kinds of things. If your stress acne is acting up, there is a mask for that, if you are in dyer need of hydration you can bet there’s a mask for that. It’s always fun to pamper yourself especially after the madness of finals week. Feeling good is the best reward for surviving finals. So go get yourselves some masks, relax, and de-stress because you deserve it and your skin will definitely appreciated.

3.  Listen to some music

Now sure, this is something very minimal, and to many this may not seem like a reward after finals. However, blasting your favorite song in the car, or in the comfort of your own home is the most liberating thing you can do.  Music actually has scientifically proven benefits. According to Life hack.org, “research proves that when you listen to music you like, your brain releases dopamine, a “feel-good” neurotransmitter.” With that being said, what’s better than feeling happy after feeling stressed for an entire week. You, Yes!, You, you deserve to be happy so listen to your favorite songs to celebrate that you are officially free from the grasps of finals.

4. Spend time with friends

Good friends call for good times, and finally been able to reunite with your besties after having your nose stuck on a book is a great way to reward yourself. There is something about talking, and ranting to your friends that just make you feel a lot better. So go out and spend some time together, because chances are they were also in the same boat  and need to distress as well.

Finals can be brutal, but after the storm is over, you can treat self after working hard in order to reach success. There are many other ways to treat yourself after finals like getting  yourself a nice meal, or binge watching your favorite shows. Good luck with finals and don’t forget to celebrate your conquest afterwards.
