Go-To Jewelry Pieces

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

Go-To Jewelry Pieces

We all have that accessory that we reach for with no fail.  A go-to jewelry piece is usually a piece that is classic; one that goes with everything.  It usually isn’t very trendy and a piece that stands out on it’s own without being too gaudy.

Go to pieces don’t necessarily have to be expensive, they are usually metallic or leather. The pieces that are just as classic as a denim jean. You want it to accessorize and not overwhelm the outfit. Here are a few of my favorite go to pieces–you can find some similar styles for sure online or in store.

On your wrist, go simple. Gold or Silver bangles or hinged bracelets are a great way to go. You can layer and stack to your heart’s content. This hinged bangle was from Juicy Couture but you can find similar styles at Charming Charlie and other retailers. The pave embellished buckle gives it a bit of glam without being overwhelming. Bracelets aren’t your thing? Go for a watch. Any watch is fine. This Kate Spade watch is simple with it’s gold hardware and black leather straps.

Rings! Show me the rings! These are MY go-to rings. The Scalloped and Bow ring are Kate Spade and I often wear stacked on top of one another. The other X ring is from BaubleBar and I often wear it on my index or ring finger, I think it is very much a statement ring without being too bulky. Find a ring that has delicate features or has something that is very much you. You want your personality to show even in your rings. If you have a killer mani, you want your rings to be just as awesome.

Studs are a classic. I especially love that my hair doesn’t get caught in them or my lobes are weighed down by dangling earrings. The beauty of studs is that they come in so many different styles. These particular ones are from Banana Republic and are my ‘fancy studs’. They aren’t diamonds but I treat them as if they are, making sure they are perfectly hidden away when not in use. So, studs? Yes in my book!

Monograms are my favorite thing ever. What’s better than having something personalized? I like to wear my monogram necklace when I do head to school because I don’t want to be sweating and have to take off my necklace. You shouldn’t suffer too much for fashion. A lot of my picks are gold because it simply works best on my skin tone, if you are a cooler skin tone then you should totally head for the silver.

Overall, go for the pieces that you feel most comfortable in. I like to stick to classic and simple pieces but I often change it up and go for trendier pieces when I go out. For a loooong day at school, I go for a minimalist look. Rock your go-to pieces!
