1. What made you want to become part of Her Campus Montclair?

Some people are good with math, science, etc…. myself not included! I’m good with reading, writing and the like – hence why I was immediately interested in becoming a writer for HCM when I was first introduced to it. What I love most about HCM is that through it, I’m involved with an organization on campus that includes members who share similar interests and aspirations with me. For me, HCM has been an outlet to express what I’m good at and to do what I’ve always enjoyed doing. Also, it’s just fun to read and write about topics other than those discussed in the classrooms and lecture halls once in a while!

2. What is it like being the Events Coordinator of the Human Relations Leadership and Development Association at Montclair?

This semester is actually my first semester being on a campus organization’s Executive Board. As the Events Coordinator of the Human Relations Leadership and Development Association (HRLDA) at Montclair State, it’s my responsibility to… well, to coordinate the organization’s events! Right now, I’m contacting E-Board members of other campus organizations that we are looking to possibly co-sponsor events with. We’re co-sponsoring a Vision Board Workshop in the next week or so and we’ve got a lot of other exciting events in the next month, so be on the lookout for those (pssst… we’ve got giveaways!)!

3. What is one item you cannot live without?

I almost feel obligated to say that I can’t live without my phone or laptop but in the spirit of being different… I CANNOT live without my leave-in conditioner (Sleek & Shine’s Intensely Smooth Leave-In Conditioning Cream by Garnier Fructis, ladies!)! I am OBSESSED with that product and the wonders it does for my crazy curls!

4. What is your favorite movie?

This one’s difficult. I feel like I have so many! It really depends on what type of mood I’m in and who I’m with… Basically, any movie based on a Nicholas Sparks novel (#SorryNotSorry!); any Gangster/Mafia movie (seriously, AMC Mob Week is like a week-long national holiday for me); oh, and the one movie that I will never not want to watch… Step Brothers (I should be paid for how often I watch this movie!)! It’s impossible to narrow it down to just one.

5. What has been the best thing about attending Montclair State University?

For being the second largest university in the state, a sense of community on campus is really felt. Like any other college, Montclair State isn’t perfect, but I’ve met some lifelong and life-influencing friends and professionals here. I’ve been exposed to various organizations, opportunities, experiences and people and – good or bad – I’m thankful for them all!

Hello everyone! My name is BreYana Williams and I currently attend Montclair State University pursuing a to receive a degree in fashion studies with a minor in journalism. I have always had a love for fashion and pop culture ever since I was little and being able to write for HerCampus is literally a dream come true. I have always had a knack for expressing myself through my clothes and writing down my feelings and now I am able to share my own personal input on fashion related topics. I am really excited to share myself with each one of you.
