5 Perfect Fall Dates

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

Now that the semester is in full swing, we’re torn between needing to stay in and keep up with our studies and enjoying what many of us would argue is the best time of year. On days when it’s bright and sunny and just cool enough for a cardigan there’s nothing better than heading out with your significant other on a date. Here are some fun and fresh ideas for taking your average date night and turning it into the perfect fall date.

Drive in Movie Theater:

Sandy and Danny from Grease had the right idea when they ventured on a date to a drive-in movie theater. When the nights are cold enough to want to do nothing but cuddle, what better to get not only a movie, but a night out too. The Warwick drive in movie is about an hour drive from campus and just over the NY state border. The theater is open Friday-Sunday and offers several options of viewing sure to please everyone. Pack some theater snacks and warm beverages and you’re good to go!

Pumpkin/Apple Picking:

A fall classic, going to a pumpkin patch or apple orchard is the best way to spend an entire day together. Many farms offer corn mazes and hayrides as well as a selection of fruits to pick! You and your significant other can head out for the day, enjoy some cider and find some fruit to decorate and eat later. Ort farms, located about 50 minutes from campus in Long Valley, NJ offers a hay ride to their pick-your-own pumpkin patch, as well as a corn maze, this year supporting the “Stronger than the Storm” initiative.

Wine Tasting:

For a more mature couple, wine tasting is a cute option to an other wise ordinary day. Some apple orchards like Applewood Winery in Warwick, NY have their own apple orchard as well as wine tasting and food. Take a large group, rent a car – or convince a friend to be designated driver – and go apple picking before or after sampling festive wine and food!

Take a Hike:

Since fall is moving into full swing, the colors and the sights are at their peak! Go on a hike or a walk with your significant other and pack a picnic basket full of festive and tasty treats. There’s nothing like spending a perfect day outdoors to liven your spirits about all the stress of school you’ll have to face when getting back.

Bake Something Festive:

After going out for the festive fruits of the season, head back home and bake something together. Make a cup of hot chocolate and try different recipes. Not only will it help bring the two of your together in the kitchen, but it’s the perfect excuse to perfect a recipe together just in time for family dinners and the holidays.
