Her Campus Mizzou: How did you get involved in MSA and how long have you been a part of MSA?

Kelsey Haberberger: This is actually my first active role in MSA. I’m the token “newbie,” which I love because I have a very different perspective than those who have been heavily involved in MSA for awhile.

HCM: What has been your favorite part of MSA and what is your favorite part of having this role as MSA vice president?

KH: Thus far, I have loved being able to collaborate with students, faculty, administrators and everyone else who help to make Mizzou the wonderful school that it is. These conversations, big and small, have led to great ideas for improving our campus as a whole and it’s been an honor to work with such inspiring individuals.

HCM: How did you attain the leadership role of MSA vice president?

KH: Mason and I ran together in the election. There is a 5-week campaign process, and the students voted in favor of us both attaining our positions.

HCM: How can readers get involved in MSA?

KH: Every student is a part of MSA. I encourage readers to take advantage of the resources given to them — from attending a DSA event, becoming a volunteer or a enjoying a Crafternoon, there are so many avenues for student involvement. HCM: How did you decide to run for MSA with Mason Schara?

KH: Mason and I decided to run for MSA based upon our passion for service and giving back to Mizzou. We both call Mizzou our home, and would really like for others to feel the same way. I ran because I wanted to make a difference, and luckily I get to serve the student body, making a difference each and every day.

HCM: What other things are you involved in on campus or have been previously involved in?

KH: Kappa Kappa Gamma (Philanthropy Chair 2013-2014), Mizzou Outreach Student Recruitment Team (Co-Chair 2013-2014), College of Education Ambassadors, Summer Welcome (Leader 2013, Student Coordinator 2014), Buddy Pack Program Coordinator (2012-2013), Panhellenic Recruitment Counselor (Fall 2013).

HCM: What is your favorite Mizzou memory?

KH: Tap Day 2013. I have never seen a more inspiring group of individuals, all so deserving of such an honor. These students are a great representative of the change Mizzou students can make, and it was a true honor to stand among them. The Mizzou family has so much to be proud of!

HCM: What is your favorite spot in Columbia?

KH: Without a doubt, Addison’s. I’m a frequent diner… you can always catch me hanging out there with friends!

HCM: How was being a summer welcome leader?

KH: Being able to lead students and share my pride for the University was such a rewarding experience. Everyone I worked with and everyone I encountered really made an impact on my life and I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to share my knowledge with the newest members of the Mizzou family.

HCM: What was your favorite part of being a summer welcome leader?

KH: I loved being able to connect with the students and reassure the parents/guests. Knowing I could ease each individual person’s transition to college life was a really cool feeling.

HCM: Where are you from and what is your major?

KH: I’m a junior elementary education major from Wildwood, Mo.
