Most of us can remember watching Disney Channel when we were kids. We would get excited about the new episodes of “Hannah Montana” and laugh at the shenanigans on “Even Stevens.” Those were the good old days of television (well, to us anyway). And then our beloved stars grew up and left the business or, as many did, went a little crazy.
But then there was “Lizzie McGuire,” which eventually became a movie, but gave us one of the best role models we could have hoped for as young pre-teens: Hilary Duff. She starred as the quirky Lizzie from 2001-2004 and then got her start in the music business. (By the way, last month in an interview with the Huffington Post, Hilary said “why not?” to a “Lizzie McGuire” reunion!) After releasing a few albums and starring in a couple more movies, she decided to take a break in 2007. So what has she been up to since then?
Well, for starters, she got married to a very handsome hockey player and they have the most adorable son ever, Luca, who is 2 now. Hilary and her husband have separated for the foreseeable future (not divorced), but they’re being adults about the situation and are working on their relationship.
She has also written a New York Times best-selling series called “Elixir.” Hilary has also been very involved in her charity work for Trident’s Smiles Across America, among her other charities. She has a new show coming out in 2015 on TV Land called “Younger” in which she plays the leading lady. She’s been pretty busy. Not to mention her fragrances, clothing line and various television cameos. And in between all of that, she has been working on a new album!
Yes, you heard me. A new album!
This is her fifth studio album that she’s been hinting about on her Instagram for more than a year now. Two singles, “Chasing the Sun” and “All About You,” have already been released and both are becoming huge hits already. The album was set to release this month but has been pushed back for a few more months. It’s been seven years. I guess we can wait a little longer!
Regardless of all the amazing things she’s done and how ridiculously talented she is, there is something to be said about how great of a person she is. There are no scandals that have scarred her image. Her relationships are not plastered on the front of tabloids. Plus, she always has an amazing sense of style (never too scandalous, but can be on the daring side). In interviews, you can’t help but smile at how sweet and genuine she is without straying away from being professional.
With all of the media attention around fighting over who the most scandalous celebrity is, it is comforting to know that not all of them have given up their self-respect to get our attention. There is something to be said for living life according to your own standards and that is what Hilary has done. She has created a career, a family and a life that is something to be proud of. I imagine that there is some aspect of her life that isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t really matter because all the other wonderful things about her definitely make up for it.
