What to do on a Snow Day?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mercer chapter.

As a resident Georgian, I am all too familiar with the temperament of the weather. In fact, much of the country is having snow storms as I type. But not Georgia. Nope, nope, nope. But what about the off chance that it does get snowy in Georgia? What do people do during snow days? This isn’t something we’ve ever had to be overly familiar with here. Not to worry! Here are a few things that can be done to keep you busy during snow days.

Watch Netflix:

You could catch up on all of the Netflix you’ve missed because of school. There are so many seasons of so many shows that school is distracting us from. But not to worry. With all of the impending snow days on the way, there will be no reason not to curl up with hot chocolate and your laptop and go to town.

Read a book… Or two:

How many non-school-related books have you read in the past few months? I can tell you, my normal number is off, and I’m sure yours are too. When the snow hits, close the blinds, put on your favorite pajamas, and get to work on the latest bestseller. If you’re having trouble finding which books to read, there are lots of websites with reccommandations.

Shop Online:

Or online window shop, if money is an issue. While it’s snowing outside, all you’re going to be thinking about is the lack of winter clothes you have. You can never have too many sweaters or boots in the closet, and this will be most evident when there is a foot of snow on the ground. You can spend your days browsing the trendy sites looking at all of the latest styles, spending money, or not. Either way, you got caught up on the trends and killed a few hours.

Pamper Yourself:

While you’re at home, dealing with the snow, why not take some time to pamper yourself. It was a rough semester, and I’m sure your body, like mine, has been feeling the stress. So during your snow day, why not take a warm bubble bath, play with new hairstyles, or try different make-up. Take some time for yourself. You deserve it.

Go play in the snow:

It’s a snow day! The obvious thing to do is to enjoy the snow. It’s not every day or every season you get to make a snowball and throw it at your best friend. Also, who never had the urge to create their own Frosty the Snow Man? Bundle up in your warmest gear, and take it outside. This is one thing you will not regret. Even if you get the sniffles later.

If you’re from Georgia, you probably won’t see much snow this winter. But why not do these things anyway? Pretend it’s snowy, and go to town with these activities! It’ll be fun and relaxing, things you’re definitely going to need before next semester. Have a great break!

Desirrae is a small-town girl with dreams of making it in the big city... Well not really. She is a freshman who decided she needed to write more than she needed almost anything else. She is a journalism major who fantasizes about being as important as Barbara Walters someday. When she isn't writing, Desirrae can be found reading, watching Netflix, spending time with her friends at school, or talking to her families from home... Or sleeping. Probably sleeping.
