My summer was full of tanning, margaritas, and making memories with the people I care about most. Now that it’s over and the semester is in full swing, I’ve figured out a solid daily routine. Graduate school is so freaking busy that I have not had the time to fully unpack, until Fall Break, actually. Meeting after meeting, clients, exams, friends, family; what I’m getting at is, my schedule is jam packed and I no longer have time for you, silly boy.

Let’s be real for a moment, hook up culture has become the new norm in the 21st century, it’s just the thing, and varying opinions aside, some of us, including myself, are participants. We all have summer flings, some fun, safe, and consensual encounters with people that are supposed to be meaningless but, here we are, 3 months later and you still haven’t taken the hint.

When we met, you made it very clear that you wanted nothing more from me than some casual hang out time. Boy, that was fine by me, I didn’t want anything more from you either! And that is what is so funny about you, is that you always thought that I wanted something more than just our typical nights when it turned out to be you. Boy, you send me these messages telling me I’m the only one for you and that you’ll always be expecting me. Boy, no.

Boy, let’s not forget how not nice you were as well. I knew you weren’t nice to begin with but, that didn’t bother me because, once more, we were nothing. Possessive is the right word for you, yet you were so possessive over something that was not yours to begin with. Funny how that works. You were always so concerned about where I was and who I was with but, if I had done the same, I would have been “clingy.”

Boy, I had a blast with you this summer but, the summer has ended. Now here we are, months later and you still don’t understand that I was using you for the same reasons you used me, casual fun, nothing more. I have a full plate back at school and no longer am I home with time to waste on you. So, the next time you call, the phone will just ring and ring. Take the hint, boy, and move on because I certainly have.
