Spring, as told by People Who Hate the Heat

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Maryland chapter.

Seasonal depression is a real thing, but for me, it is a little reversed. I live for the winter; I love being bundled up sporting sweaters and comfy leggings. When it starts to get warm, however, I run for the hills, or the AC. Everyone around me is all like “YAYAY Spring!! It is almost summer!” And all I can do is groan.

The heat makes me tired and groggy, and I absolutely hate sweating. Spring is that limbo period when the university still has not turned on the air conditioning but its 90 degrees outside. It is the beginning of sunburns and smelly people. It is just gross. Since we’re starting to experience the hotter days of the spring, I’ve had ample time to feel the wide range of emotions that this weather makes me feel.

1. Waking up in the morning and seeing the forecast – heat with a side of humidity.

2. Trying to find shade everywhere I go

3. Seeing a 20 percent chance of rain and praying that the sky will open up

4. Never wanting to leave your fan and occasional air conditioning

5. When my friends all want to go tanning and I know I will just burn

6. Reminiscing about it being cold on 105 degree Maryland days

7. Avoiding people like its my job because they all want to go outside

8. Looking in the mirror and knowing it is going to be a bad hair day

Yeah, I think I will just have to be staying inside today for the next few months. See you all in November.
