Get it right, get it tight: This Week’s Fitness Issues Conquered

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Le Moyne chapter.

Hi guys, my name is Valerie Proano and I will be here every week to give you beautiful ladies some simple fitness tips that will keep you looking fabulous! Each week I will be showing you guys the “Power Move of the Week” where we focus on one part of the body to tone. Also, look out for my own personal workout playlist of the week down at the bottom of every week’s posting. My music ranges from rap to bubblegum pop so there is definitely a song for everyone on there! Not only can we kick butt this semester but make sure we keep it firm! ?

Lower Ab Monday!

Let’s all admit it. We all want that flat, sexy, tummy, one exercise that will specifically target your lower abdominals!

Okay, ladies were going to start with the V-Sit Up. This power move is simple and will definitely have you feeling the burn. To start off, make sure to do a thoroughly stretch out your lower back and leg muscles. For an extra push, add in a set of standard crunches to warm up your muscles and to make sure you don’t pull anything.

After that quick warm up, lie flat on your back on a flat surface wherever you are (preferably on a yoga mat so you don’t hurt your back) Start to extend your arms behind your head and make sure to plant them on the floor while your palms are facing the ceiling. Keep your feet together and your toes pointed toward the ceiling as well. To really get this exercise going keep your legs as straight as you can then lift them up, and at the same time raise your upper body off of the floor and reach for your toes with your hands. While doing all this you have to squeeze your abdominal muscles as you reach for you toes, then let your back and legs fall back to the floor in a slow, controlled motion. Do about 10 repetitions. If that is too much to start off with, just do as many as you can and if that is too easy try adding light dumbbells to challenge yourself.
No matter what you choose every effort counts on the journey to fitness.
And there you have it, a simple move to keep the lower tummy toned!
