Providing Help Where Help is Needed: Amanda Bui

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

“I thrive on knowing that I can make a difference,” says senior Amanda Bui. Along with majoring in Psychology, Bui minors in Forensic Studies and is the music manager of Lasell’s A Capella group, The Spartones. Bui has a real passion for helping others, even if it’s just in the form of making someone smile! She is focusing her study of psychology on helping children with developmental disabilities and eventually wants to be involved with finding a cure for autism, which now affects almost 2% of the population. Bui is definitely one of our “Baddest Females on Campus.”

“Children are the future of the world,” Bui states, explaining that when we see children we are looking at our “future moms and dads, teachers, firefighters, and doctors of the world.” Not only does she want to find an autism cure, she wants to focus on the fragility of a child’s development and ensure the next generation will grow up to be the best of those future roles they can be.

“I will say that I am glad I have found my calling,” she said, because now she loves going to work. She is currently working in an Early Intervention Program where she is pursuing her passion to help others, whether it’s getting a genuine smile out of someone or working through people’s situations and feelings.

Bui has many future options career-wise. “I plan to go wherever I am needed,” she says. She is open to working in a school for autism or continuing in an Early Intervention Program. As long as help is needed, she will be there. There is no doubt that Amanda will help as many people as she can, and she will truly make a difference in the next generation of children’s lives and in the world.
