10 Ways to Stay Organized this Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lasell chapter.

1.  Keep a planner-

Keeping a planner can be one of the easiest ways to keep you organized. The key, of course, is just remember to use it every time you have an event, work, clubs, class, etc. Write it all down and bring it everywhere.

2.  Avoid drawers-

This one may sound a little funny, seeing as how drawers are used to keep items out of sight. However, drawers can go from neatly organized to junk drawers in a matter of days. There are plenty of other cute organizational systems out there without drawers.

3.  Write down everything as soon as you hear it-

This is one of the easiest ways to stay on top of things like homework assignments, social plans, and meetings that can easily be forgotten.

4.  Make your room your sanctuary-

One of the simplest ways to remain organized is to be stress-free. By making your room into a stress-free haven, using calming décor, comfortable features, and keeping it clean, your organized mindset will come naturally.

5.  Minimize your wardrobe-

This one may sound hard, but go through your clothes and ask yourself: “Will I wear this in the next few months, or ever?” If the answer is no, then you don’t need it. In a small space like a dorm or apartment, having outfit staples that you love and can wear often is the best way to go.

6.  Create a daily to-do list-

This can help you stay organized and also help you to create a prioritized system, and not put things off till the last minute.

7.  Create a rewards system for yourself-

By giving yourself a reward for staying organized, it will make you want to do it more often. For example, for every month you keep a planner you can treat yourself to a shopping trip.

8.  Organize your money-

This tip is one that often goes overlooked because of the pattern of getting your money and having it all go to one place. However if you take your money and separate it out based on what you’re saving for, you will be surprised how much further your money can go.

9.  Make your bed everyday-

This may seem small, but this easy task can truly help your organization of your bedroom.

10.  Don’t take on too many things-

Last but not least, be careful not to take on too much this semester. This is the largest way to eliminate being disorganized. Spreading yourself too thin can ruin your semester and create more stress than reward in the end.
