Poetry and Pensiveness

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

Sometimes the best way to clear your mind is to go on a drive with no direction. This week on one of my scenic drives I ended up stopping by Clinton Lake and taking a break. Looking out over the landscape, the restful hum of the rural environment and colors of the sky and water reminded me of a line from my favorite poem, “the line I called the horizon does not exist and sky and water, so long apart, are the same state of being”, from Lisel Mueller’s “Monet Refuses the Operation.” Go out and explore more, go out in nature more, being reminded of how connected the heavens and earth are will make your worries dissipate into the fluidity of the universe, even if only for a few minutes.
