10 Signs That You’re In The BeyHive

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

So I’m just going to begin this with a big “don’t judge me,” but a blog strictly about Beyoncé from her biggest fan is long overdue. With her face on the cover of Time magazine as one of Time’s Most Influential People and tickets on sale for her “On the Run” summer tour with Jay-Z (and yes, I got my tickets), it seemed fitting to talk about Queen Bey and her dedicated BeyHive.

DISCLAIMER: I call her by her nickname “Bey” because we are friends…in my head.

Just like Justin Bieber has his Beliebers, Lady Gaga has her Monsters, and Rihanna has her Navy, Beyoncé has her BeyHive, which consists of only Bey’s TRUE fans! A true Bey fan is one that has been here since Day 1: since Destiny’s Child, “Goldmember,” and “Dangerously in Love.” Not any of these bandwagon fans that hopped on after they heard her say “surfboart.”

There is no true initiation process into the BeyHive; in fact, you might even be a member without even realizing. Here are ten important signs that you are in the BeyHive:

1. You own every album, DVD, and perfume

2. You find yourself calling her “Queen Bey,” “Yoncé,” or “Beysus” on a regular basis

3. You get super super defensive when someone talks negatively about Bey and you will defend her to the grave

(I almost had to get escorted out of English class for arguing with a girl who said Bey couldn’t sing live, like seriously girl did you not see her slay at the SuperBowl??)

4.You know the choreography to “Single Ladies,” “Get Me Bodied,” or “Run the World.”

5. You have seen or plan on going to see her perform live

(Seeing Bey live was one the best experiences of my life..and I cried the first 30 minutes at the slayage)

6. You love Blue Ivy like she was your own little sister

7. You were nearly sent into cardiac arrest when she dropped the surprise album

8. You are not afraid to show your love for Bey

9.     You live your life by the motto, “What would Beyoncé Do?”

10.     You have to mentally prepare before every public performance and often say things like, “We got this” or “You ready Bey? Let’s go get ‘em.”

If you said yes to six or more of the above, you are definitely a fellow BeyHive member and it is okay to admit it. Many haters may call us crazy, obsessive “Stans,” but I think we just support our fave to the fullest and, most importantly, they need to BOW DOWN!!
