We like to (college) party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Kent State chapter.

At college having a social life to balance your academic life is essential. Besides, all work and no play makes for a very dull girl. Colleges often have an abundance of events to help keep college students happy and motivated. While attending these events it is good to keep in mind the dress code, which is why I created outfits from Polyvore to offer some help.

Formal Events When Kent State says an event is formal, they mean it. As a school that has a highly rated fashion program, we have a reputation to keep up. From events such as the Renaissance Ball to KASA’s African Night to Greek formals, the dress code is strictly formal only.

Semi-Formal Events If you are a sorority girl or involved in many prestigious societies, having an nice amount of cocktails dress is essential. Semi-formal attire is more relaxed than formal attire, as you can wear a cocktail dress to more events than a prom dress.

Dressy Events In contrast to formal and semi-formal events, colleges tend to have more dressy events such as fashion shows, theatre productions etc. It is important to balance relaxed and formal with this look, not wanting to look too dressed up or too casual.

Parties Going to a college party is key to fulfilling your college experience. While college parties are hyped up, you should not adhere to your outfit selection. College parties, unless they are themed, tend to be casual. Besides with the mass of people in the area, heels and expensive dresses are a no go. This being said, you might want to stick to sneakers and a day dress.

Casual Events Kent State offers a variety of casual events from Blastoff to the Black Squirrel Festival to FlashFest. Think Coachella when it comes to your attire, it’s very casual.
