On Wednesday, September 3rd Kent State students gathered on the K to silently protest for the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson. Students covered the K, laying down with targets on their back. The students on the ground were outlined in chalk, making it look like an actual crime scene. Some students stood and held signs reading messages such as “Don’t Shoot.” I had the opportunity to interview student and protester, Christa Swift.

Her Campus: Why are you participating in this protest?

Christa Swift: I feel that police brutality is wrong and needs to be stopped.

Her Campus: How did you get involved with this protest?

Christa Swift: I was walking past on my way back from class and stopped- just felt like I needed to be a part of it.

Her Campus: How does it make you feel being a part of this protest?

Christa Swift: It makes me feel good to bring awareness to police brutality. I feel good to try and stop it for people like Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin.

Swift was the only protester who agreed to answer questions for Her Campus. What do you think about this protest, Flashes? Comment below with your opinion.

Sophomore, Public relations major at the beautiful, Kent State University. I'm overly involved in extra curriculars and have a 4.0 GPA. Not kidding about being overly involved. Definitely kidding about the 4.0 GPA. I love Greek life, I'm obsessed with John Mayer and most recently my favorite book is "Gone Girl." I have an addictive personality. Which basically means if I like a netflix series, I will be hibernating for the next week until I finish all 6 seasons. If I had 3 wishes, I would wish for world peace, that chipotle would stop being so stingy with their chicken portioning and that I was born with some sort of athletic talent. I love meeting new people and trying new things. The end.
