What Your Spring Break Plans Say About You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Take a breath; you have finally earned a week of no obligations and relaxation! It’s spring break and whatever your plans are, it’s going to be better than being cooped up in the library. So, what do your spring break plans say about you?

The trip home

You are either one of two things–saving up for something instead of paying for a week of letting loose (and probably lack of memories), or just super close with your family and ready to spend time relaxing on the couch. That’s okay! In the long run, you’ll be the one with the money for drinks at the bar while everyone else is broke the week after returning to college. Consider yourself ‘fiscally responsible.’

The trip to Florida

Sorry to tell you, but you’re a sheep. Everyone goes to Florida— PCB, Destin, Daytona… it’s all so cliché. However, you will have the time of your life with the entire east coast college population right by your side. You will make friends, get tan lines, have one too many, and maybe come home with a few regrets, BUT you might as well live it up now while you’re still allowed to make mistakes!

The cruise getaway

You’re ready to get away from it all and let all your problems sail away. Whether you choose the Bahamas, Mediterranean, or somewhere on the coast of Mexico you will soak up the sun and forget about any stressors or deadlines. There is no wrong answer, stay busy with an excursion, or simply kick back on the deck next to the all-you-can-eat soft serve, it’s only you and the ocean.

The alternative spring break

You’re the person who wants to experience something new and give back at the same time. You will find gratitude from the happiness you will bring to others. So what if you don’t have a great tan when you get back? You’ll have life changing memories. Kudos to you for spending your time off giving back!

The trip to Europe

You’re culturally adept and have the money to do it. If you are headed to Europe you are one of the lucky ones. You’ve stayed disciplined in your New Years resolution to detox from the holiday season, and now you are going to eat your way through France, Italy, Germany, or wherever you are headed. But have absolutely no shame–it sure beats the takeout pizza all of us broke college kids at home will be drunk eating at 2 a.m. And to top that, you’ll most likely have amazing pictures to reminisce on forever. We are all jealous of you.

The mountain escape

You’re different. Who needs the beach when there are perfectly good hiking and skiing trails in your backyard? Pack a backpack and throw your outdoor gear in the trunk and drive to one of the nearby mountains because adventure is calling your name. Nature is your thing and you want to take full advantage of your time to become one with your surroundings and enjoy every second of that crisp mountain air. Forget the mimosas, you prefer granola bars and a full thermos.
