Teen Vogue Back To School Event Saturday Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JHU chapter.

On Saturday, Teen Vogue partnered with Arundel Mills outlet mall to hold a Back to School Saturday event. Featuring adorable mini cupcakes, a photobox and a hair and beauty bar all for free, the event sounded like a great way to prep for the upcoming semester! After a quick brunch with friends, my roommate Hayley and I hopped in a ZipCar and drove down to the mall to check it out.

Once we got at the event, we spent ten minutes driving around the mall trying to figure out where the event was being held (who knew one mall could be so big?!) until we finally gave up, parked, and ended up walking in pretty close to it (lucky us). One of the event organizers greeted me and gave me an awesome media swag bag with samples from stores, coupons to the mall, and even a Cinnabon gift card. A DJ with fabulous pastel pink hair was there playing music while attendees enjoyed delicious cupcakes, refreshing mocktails, and the most amazing, fresh potato chips I’ve ever eaten. We stopped to get some flash tattoos applied at one of the event stations before walking up to the front to watch a fashion show segment, featuring clothes from the mall’s stores! All the models looked gorgeous and ready for school.

Of course, no event is complete without getting a few selfies in, so we snapped a few pics of ourselves and shared them on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #BTSS (check out the hastag to hear more about the event). We watched the photos print from Photoboxx, a super nifty machine that lets you print photos in real time once they’re shared with a specific hashtag. We rounded out the afternoon by getting our hair braided at the beauty bar by two lovely stylists from Bubbles Salon in the mall. Between the pampering, the snacks and the great music, it was an excellent way to spend the afternoon getting ready for our last year of school.
