I, like many college students, have a busy schedule. From classes to work to clubs, the only time I have to myself is showering and sleeping (if I ever get any sleep). But I learned the hard way that I need to have some downtime not only for my mind to rest but my body as well. Studies show that about one hour of downtime is good for a person who is constantly working, and I decided to apply this notion to my everyday life.
How? Well, besides exercising and meditating, I watch television. There are great shows right now, from Scandal to How to Get Away with Murder, and lets not forget about Revenge! Here are a list of shows from polls that students answered when asked what shows they are watching…
1. Gotham (8 pm on Fox on Mondays):
I am a huge Batman fan! So when I learned that Fox was airing a show that relates to my favorite Cape Crusader, I couldn’t resist to check it out. Now I must say that this show is very good. So far it surrounds the life of Detective Gordon and how he tries to solve the murder of the Wayne Family, and trying to keep Bruce Wayne from hurting himself. A more exciting twist than from what you thought, right? That’s what I love about it. The best part is that you see your favorite enemies live normal lives before they became villains!
2. Sleepy Hollow (9pm on Fox on Mondays):
I am a History major so it obvious that anything relating to history would catch my eye. Sleepy Hollow has more to do with history, but its history is incorporated with demons, witches, and conspiracies. There is a twist in every episode, which catches your attention at every corner. If you want to learn history with a mix of demons and a headless horseman, then maybe this is the show for you. The main character, Ichabod Crane, is a revolutionary soldier who wakes up from the dead 250 years later and teams up with Lieutenant Abigail Mills to stop “The End of Days.” Together, they find answers to questions that affect who they are and what happened to them.
3. The Blacklist (9pm on NBC on Thursdays):
I am always up for some police drama, but when a criminal who works as an informant for the FBI and is helping them catch criminals for a reason that is unknown to us, the viewers then that is a twist that you cannot miss. The main character, Red, is a notorious and most wanted FBI criminal who turns himself in to help the FBI catch the “bad guys.” But who are really the bad guys and what are Red’s intentions? Who knows?
