Ever wonder why the Oak Grove is covered in umbrellas and chalk more than usual on one specific, sunny day in September? Well, your answer is RAINN Day!

Supported by the IUP Haven project, RAINN Day is a nationwide day of awareness for issues like rape, abuse, and insest, and provide support for victims of these crimes. On the 25th of September, the IUP campus will observe the day by chalking our sidewalks with supportive messages to raise awareness, and setting up displays to bring attention to the cause.

Chalking the walk will happen Wednesday the 24th from 6-8pm, and setting up displays will happen early on the 25th. If you want to volunteer and work to stop crimes like these, you can email the Haven project about it at: haven-project@iup.edu. You should also check out the national RAINN Day site, found here, and take the time to read the messages in the Oak Grove this coming Thursday.

Hey all! My name's Cat, and I'm a proud English major at IUP campus, with a minor in Woman's studies, and maybe even Asian studies too if I can manage it. I'm not nearly as much of a workaholic as that makes me sound like though, I promise. I'm a huge nerd, thanks to my daddy, so when I'm not writing or reading you can catch me watching eclectic shows, playing strange games, and discussing why each of my friends is which superhero. My biggest vice is coffee, my favorite sport is marathon reading, and my favorite color is yellow, in case any of you lovely people really wanted to know. Feel free to contact me at any time, even just to chat! <3
